Barbara Beiwind
German, born 1970. Lives and works in Stord, Norway.
Beiwind creates art that has its source in figurative and abstract painting, but also transcends into modern imagery and photography.
Staying open for individual interpretations, Beiwind explores dark, cold and lone thoughts, focusing on the atmosphere rather than realism.

1993 – 1996 Hamburger Technische Kunstschule. Hamburg | BA in Communication Design
I took my time to find out my own colour, covering any real meaning of both my figurative and abstract paintings instinctively, concurrently letting the beholder find a universe for his own mind’s creation. The pivot where my work comes from could candidly be acknowledged as darkness. Furthering to try and meet the dare of painting, a lightness approach is in a constant grapple with the borderline of dissatisfaction. This duel is subsumed into an engagement with an intended secret, mystery and calmness. The soul paints its own stories, through the abstraction of the subject’s physicality it is often taken out of the context of the perceptible proscenium.
